Adelaide mum shows you can have your cake and eat it too!
Nikki Franz, a dynamic Commonwealth Bank team leader for training in Adelaide has successfully demonstrated that working the ranks of a big corporation and being a mum is an achievable goal.
By the advice of her mother, Nikki sat the Bank entrance exam 20 years ago and hasn't looked back since. Nikki has enjoyed a successful career with the Commonwealth Bank having worked in various roles across the branch network, Nikki also successfully climbed her way to becoming the first female branch manager at Adelaide's head office branch in King William Street, a claim that she treasures highly.
Having reached a senior position, deciding to have a child did not appear to have a negative impact on her career. "The Bank was really supportive of my decision to have a child and was extremely accommodating to my need for flexibility upon returning to work" Nikki said.
Upon returning to work, Nikki felt that she wanted a role that still required her to interact with people, was challenging, but also provided more flexibility so she could tend to her family. The Bank was accommodating to her needs by allowing her to move from her role as Branch Manager of Adelaide's busiest branch into her current role as team leader of training in Adelaide. This role provides career progression and accommodates her new role as a mother.
While motherhood has been every bit as rewarding as she had hoped it to be, since returning to the workforce, Nikki has been able to enjoy her coffee while its still hot, something that she values greatly.
