Bamboo... better for baby than cotton?... Yes!100% Bamboo fibre (fabric) is indeed taking the Australian Market by storm! Babyjo Bamboo wear has created an exciting range of newborn basics for Aussie Bubs, all made from 100% bamboo. Made to be worn in winter or summer, all items are a clever design and are made with baby's comfort as the main importance. Immediately, you have conjured up in your mind, a garment made from a harsh, scratchy odd looking bamboo shaped fibre, however in reality; bamboo fabric is a beautiful, luxuriant fabric, softer than the softest cotton and once felt, it will surely convert you from a cotton buyer to a bamboo devotee. Favoured for its amazing environmental and health benefits, bamboo is far superior to cotton, and has a feel that is similar to a cross between cashmere and silk. What mum wouldn't want to dress her bub in something so gorgeous? Organically grown, Eco friendly and environmentally sustainable, bamboo is thought to be the fastest growing plant (grass) on the earth and the finished fabric has naturally occurring antibacterial and antifungal properties, as well as having its own in built "fabric softener". Not only is bamboo 3 times more absorbent than cotton, it is more breathable due to the structure of the fibre and "wicks" away excess moisture from the body, leaving bub fresh and clean. One of bamboo's most endearing qualities is its thermo regulation. Tests have shown that wearing bamboo fabric will keep your body 2 degrees cooler in summer and 2 degrees warmer in winter - a big plus for babies in extreme climates! Odour resistant and UV protectant, the list of bonuses over cotton is evident. Melbourne mum, Jo Harvey, like other mums in a similar position was keen to find something to do from home while her daughter Mia was sleeping during the days, as well as needing to be challenged mentally throughout the coming years. Having worked for the past 7 years in the hospitality industry with Accor Hotels, Jo initially looked for something in the same field of work. It wasn't until Jo's husband Andrew "dared me to import something" that started of the chain reaction of events that has lead to the inception of Babyjo Bamboo wear. At the time of this "dare" their daughter Mia had mild, (yet worrying for any new parent) eczema patches that were not getting any better with time and moisturizing. Looking through the multitude of items that are available for import, Jo's eyes flicked over an article on "Bamboo fibre" and started some investigating and research. After realising that bamboo fabric could indeed be something that not only helped Mia's eczema, but something that is not readily available in the Australian market, Jo started the process of designing and importing a range of cute little newborn outfits made from 100% bamboo. As well as being available direct from the website, Babyjo bamboo wear is stocked in fabulous online stores such as www.monkeycaboose.com.au and www.latoriana.com.au as well as retail stores Mud, Mirror and Thread (Hurstbridge) and Roundabout Kids (Bendigo) in outer Melbourne. Now Aussie mums and bubs can enjoy this wonderful fabric as well! Babyjo bamboo garments are similar to "thermals" in the sense that they can be worn through winter as undergarments for extra warmth needed (or on their own with just a singlet underneath) or alternatively, throughout those hot summer days and nights when you need to keep bub cool. Bamboo keeps your baby 2 degrees warmer or cooler when required. For more information on Bamboo, or to ask any questions, visit us at www.babyjo.com.au. Release Date: 15th July 2008 |
