The New Belrose Hotel Opens Largest Indoor Playground, Creating Ultimate Family-Friendly Venue

Recognising the increasing need for more and better family-friendly venues across Sydney, The Belrose Hotel (formerly The President), owned and operated by well-known hoteliers, the Bayfield Hotel Group, have officially unveiled their jungle-themed, soft-play playground, catering for up to 70 toddlers and children between the ages of 1 and 10.

Designed by Sydney-based company Playtec, the playground enables families and friends to catch up over a bite to eat or a drink whilst the kids play – and for those with babies and toddlers, there is also a parents’ room with microwave, a rarity in any pub or hotel in Australia.

Mr. Wayne Bayfield, Operations Director, The Bayfield Hotel Group said the playground was a vital component of the Hotel’s redevelopment: “We’ve got quite a lot of experience in running hotels such as The Newport Arms, that primarily cater to families. Over the years it’s become increasingly obvious that families do crave getting out for a meal on a regular basis and catching up with friends but it can become a bit of a nightmare when there is no space for the kids to run around.”

The new playground at The Belrose Hotel features a large array of activities that encourage children to enhance their basic motor skills, whilst developing their imagination, creativity, self confidence and social skills. The activities include a triple spiral slide, web bridges, cavern crawls, spider bungees and a wonderful Astro slide.

For safety reasons, infants and young toddlers have their own, separate area that’s easily seen from the bistro. This area contains a smaller, compact Module Play structure that includes a small slide, climbs, ball pool, interactive Gadget Panels and ball washing and sterilizing machine.

To provide further proof they were on the right track by building the playground, The Bayfield Hotel Group commissioned a survey1 through Pure Profile prior to the Hotel opening that revealed there is a genuine lack of family-friendly venues across Sydney.

Of the 1001 Sydney parents surveyed:

  • Only 32% believed there are an adequate number of child-friendly venues close by;
  • Almost 81% of parents surveyed said they consider whether a venue is child-friendly before going out for a meal;
  • Nearly 60% of parents confirmed they would be more likely to take their kids to a venue that had a playground on offer;
  • 74% of parents are more likely to take the family out for a meal if the venue has a kids’ menu, and
  • 50% of parents are willing to spend at least 20 minutes or more in the car to travel to a child-friendly venue.

The Belrose Hotel has an extensive bistro menu that offers a range of great tasting options such as mid-morning treats, deliciously light salads, the finest quality steaks, fresh seafood, gourmet pizzas, a special kids’ menu and Sunday breakfast.

The bistro is open daily for lunch and dinner as well as breakfast on Sunday. Light snacks are also available from the café from 10am.

The Belrose Hotel is open seven days a week and is located on Sydney’s Northern Beaches on 5 Hews Parade in Belrose, just off Forest Way, a short drive from Frenchs Forest, Terrey Hills, Mona Vale, St Ives, Roseville, Brookvale and Seaforth. Significant parking is available on site.
