Child Talk - helping your child's language development

Brisbane mum has created a unique resource to help parents give their children a head start in life and learning!!

Soraya Bews, who has a background in Speech Pathology and a mother of one said “she developed Child Talk for all parents and caregivers of children aged 0 – 3 years of age so that they had the skills and confidence to stimulate their child’s language development and consequently give their child, family and our community a better future”.

Ms Bews emphasized the link between early vocabulary and language development in the first few years of a child’s life to future academic and social success.

“Children who grow up in language rich environments learn to become responsive to communication. This responsiveness encourages people around them to engage with them more which then further exposes them to even more language. Children who are exposed to a language rich environment are more likely to develop a greater vocabulary which is linked to better literacy skills. Good literacy skills enable a child to experience both greater academic and social success in later years” she said.
