Sydney Mum's New Treatment for Post Natal Depression
Reaches New Heights
Sydney Mum Jodie Brookes has had her Mummy Planner
program recently featured in Woman's Day highlighting to all Australian
mums the importance of "asking for help" when dealing with
Post Natal Depression.
Jodie Brookes, aka The Mummy Planner had no choice but to find her
way out of the nightmare of Post Natal Depression. She knew that if
she didn't she would never really be able to enjoy her children,
and so her search began.
After finding no-one that could help her to organise her daily life
she had no choice but to draw on her inner strength and create a system
that would help her deal with the effects of PND as well as allow her
to enjoy being a wife and mother. Whilst Jodie recognises the importance
of medical intervention for post natal depression she has developed
a system to compliment medical treatments.
Having three young children and a baby on the way Jodie set about streamlining
her day, implementing routines for all sorts of tasks including weekly
money management, meal plans etc, all of which helped her to deal with
each day in a planned and methodical way. By being organised and creating
her routines Jodie was better able to deal with the effects of PND such
as lack of motivation and concentration.
Realising that she couldn't be the only one dealing with this
situation Jodie began asking friends what they thought and was overwhelmed
by the fact that so many women, and not just women with PND, wanted
to utilise the systems she had created, therefore The Mummy Planner
was born.
The Mummy Planner offers assistance to mums via online sessions to
mums worldwide and currently attends the homes of Sydney Mums to provide
a hands on service. The Mummy Planner is currently negotiating franchise
opportunities into other areas to enable more mums to have one on one,
assistance.
