Children become real little artistic pros with new painting workshop

Children now have the opportunity to create their very own professional masterpiece for parents to proudly display on the wall at home or work.

Sharron Tancred, founder of Brisbane’s Works For Your House, a professional artist and interior decorator, comes to clients’ homes and keeps children entertained in the magic of art for up to four hours or more.

However, Ms Tancred is quick to reassure that both the experience and the result is completely different to what a child might produce, by his or her self, or at school.

“At the initial briefing, I discuss with the parents what will suit the decor chosen for the art and then, on the day of the session which is held at the child’s home, the child is given a sequence of colours to use, perfectly matching the décor,” she said.

Ms Tancred said that the resulting artwork looks like a professional art that complements the décor, style and ambience of the home, with the important difference being that the clients’ child created it.

“I will direct the child, add strokes and even mimic the child, giving parents the desired work of art and satisfying the child’s ego.  At the end of the session, the artwork is professionally finished off. Parents will think their child is a genius,” she said.

According to Ms Tancred, an artist, graphic designer, illustrator and interior decorator, the “Works with Little Pros” sessions are very popular among parents or grandparents who want to create a gift to be treasured for a lifetime.

Ms Tancred provides artwork and interior decorating for residential, corporate and private workshop clients.  She paints stunning wall murals, and creates collages that involve her clients’ soft furnishing materials or designs, matching themes to colours and textures, and carefully sizing and positioning canvases to walls.
